On the occasion of International Day of Yoga 2021 (June 21), a session on cross-lateral yoga poses was held for middle school students in Jaipur. "Cross-lateral poses in yogic exercises with regulation of breath can activate the two hemispheres of brain to benefit both physical mental health along with causing general well-being of individuals," stated Dr Lalit Kishore - Jaipur based education therapist -who conducted the session.
In the yoga session, the participating students were subjected to the designed intervention consisting of three exercises which involved mid-line crossing of arms in sitting position.
The students reported the felt benefits of cross-lateral exercises such as control on mind, better self-awareness, relaxation, gentle internal message of muscles of the chest and arms, enhanced flexibility of bone joints and activation of brain.
According to Kishore (2018 [1], by providing the sketches of mid-line crossing activities and their rationale makes a plea for creating a special curriculum for physical education to meet the needs of middle school students and differently abled children.
