The UN proclaimed English Language Day is observed annually on 23 April since 2010 as a part of promoting policy of multilingualism. The UN informs that For the English Language Day, 'April 23 was chosen because it is the date traditionally observed as both the birthday and date of death of William Shakespeare.' The UN website states, "English is one of the languages of international communication. People from different countries and cultures are increasingly able to communicate with each other in English."
For the observance in 2025, the UN has urged that there is a need for "upskilling ‘AI’ Innovation from Classroom to Global Workplace," to acquire 'a set of ready-to-implement skills for innovating your communications' for which "Ask 'AI' Shakespeare Anything” web search is available. At the Un. English is being viewed as global connect in the digital age dominated by AI.
The UN holds that in the present times, we must make efforts to Expand ou Language Skills and Innovate Communications by making multilingualism an integral part of of our learning and working lives since 'listening, reading, speaking and writing in more than one language deepens our mutual understanding.'.
These days, as a part AI skills, the module on Natural language Processing (NLP) is being suggested even at the school level as a part of computer science and artificial intelligence (AI) that uses machine learning to enable computers to understand and communicate with English language predominantly. It is important to acquire this skill since the NLP enables digital devices to recognize, understand and generate text and speech by combining it with computational linguistics. For improving communication skills, AI can work as a coach to listen conversations and provide feedback for improvement.
