Summary of session

A one-hour session took place at CCE, Jaipur, focusing on the Makar Sankranti Kite Festival in North India. It incorporated STEAM education through hands-on, interactive activities that explored science and physics concepts like lift, drag, gravity, and tension related to aerodynamics. The session also included maths and geometry topics such as shapes, angles, measurement, and symmetry, along with problem-solving skills addressing wind resistance, balance, and stability. Additionally, technology was involved through the use of tools and materials for making kite frames, while engineering aspects covered design, diagrams, labeling, size, and construction. Art was also a key component, with students decorating kites, creating crafted tails, and exploring cultural significance through rangoli. This engaging approach aimed to make abstract concepts more tangible and enjoyable for middle school students in both vertical and mixed-gender groups. The session was conducted as a pilot study for a research lesson.
