Don't forget to have the last glimpse of Moon-Venus conjunction this Sharad Purnima

October saw the Moon-Venus conjunction in 2020 which was prominently visible in early morning sky with the naked eye due to simultaneous ascension of the duo from our perspective from the earth.




This Sharad Purnima, October 30, one can have the last glimpses of the conjunction this year. According to Hindu traditions, on this night the Moon shines with all its sixteen Kalas or qualities by being closest to earth on this day. Additionally, the moon, this year is close to the Venus also.


It is believed that lunar rays on this night possess nourishing elements for body and soul. People put kheer, milk pudding or masala milk for a few hours in the moon light and then have it.


Farmers in some parts of the country also observe Sharad Purnima as a harvest festival of Ashvin month.


The sky watchers and star gazers will a treat of two brightest objects in the night sky being closer.


They're bright enough not requiring the darkness of the dead night to see them. Even in the cities where is lot of light pollution the conjunction can be spotted. However, on the full moon the event will loose its significance.


Moreover, in the dawn and wee hours also look at red Mars which is also clearly visible.
