The United Nations proclaimed the International Day of Education, is observed on January 24 to emphasize the role of education for peace and development. UNSECO maintains that without inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong opportunities for all, countries will not succeed in achieving gender equality and breaking the cycle of poverty that is leaving millions of children, youth and adults behind.

According to the UN, even today, 250 million children and youth are out of school, and 763 million adults are illiterate. "Their right to education is being violated and it is unacceptable. It's time to transform education, " urges UN.

UN's SDG 4 dedicated to education aims to ensure inclusive, equitable, and quality education for all, promoting lifelong learning by 2030. It focuses on free primary/secondary schooling, equal access to vocational training, and eliminating gender/wealth disparities. The goal is to provide safe, effective learning environments and improve literacy, numeracy, and relevant skills.

Theme Song on Education

(Verse 1)

Open the doors, let every mind join in,

Where inclusion thrives and new journeys begin.

Equity ensures the path is fair for all,

Rising together, standing proud and tall.

(Chorus)

We learn thro' sound, thro' sight, and touch,

Multi-modality means learning so much.

Quality knowledge that lights up the way,

Respect for diversity in all that we say.

(Verse 2)

Voices and cultures, a vibrant, rich blend,

A future of hope on which we can depend.

With open hearts, we grow and we see,

The power of learning for you and for me.
