An attempt was made to systematizing multi-grade teaching through three-group three-stage experiential learning by adapting the prescribed textbook content since they are written by keeping the mono-grade schools into view. Many educators have proposed that unless the textbooks are converted into learning segments with materials for group learning and self-learning, the teacher cannot be freed to attend other grades simultaneously.
An intervention was undertaken to convert each lesson into two segments with each of them being taken up through teacher-directed learning, group learning through recognition and identification worksheets and written worksheets for individual learning.
For each subject about 60 worksheets were produced to systematize multi-grade teaching for primary grades. It was found that in six months time, 80% of over-age girls could complete grade one in three months successfully with weekly formative evaluation and corrective feedback.
