Ensure quality mental health care to all: WHO on World Mental Health Day

The World Health Organisation (WHO) coordinates World Mental Health Day (WMHD) on 10 October every year which supported by by the World Federation for Mental Health which has designated the theme for this year as 'Mental Health for All'.




The WHO definition of health goes like this: "Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity."


A popular definition of metal health by medicalnewstoday.com is "Mental health refers to cognitive, behavioral, and emotional well-being." They explain that mental health is related to how people think, feel, and behave to keep themselves emotionally healthy in daily living and relationships along with physical fitness.

This year, on WMHD, the WHO is hosting a global online advocacy event on mental health joined by for world leaders, mental health experts and celebrity guests along with WHO Director-General, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, to deliberate on the ways to improve mental health and make sure that quality mental health care is available to everyone who needs it, informed a release adding that some critically-acclaimed musicians perform some of their most popular music on the occasion.
