The present time is appropriate to write protest poetry and recite it. Some poets, rappers and spoken word-art performers have come up to join hands with the peaceful farmers' protest going on for the last two months.
Three kinds of protest poetry such as narrative poetry, dramatic poetry and lyrical poetry touching the genre of protest songs are being rendered at the protest rallies.
Occasionally, a mix of protest poetry forms is being rendered to keep the spirits high. Popular singers from Punjab are active participants and have committed support to the exemplary peace protest being appreciated across the world.
A protest poem or related spoken word performing art is a rhythmic statement or action narrative expressing disapproval something wrong being done by the dominant class of the society or the powers that be.
Essentially, protest poetry expresses the objection against them topical issues resulting into suffering of common people who have handed over the power and position for safeguarding the citizens' rights and to work for their well-being and dignified life.
Very few teachers of social science and science write protest poetry to express the negative aspects of concepts or to bust myths and misconceptions related to various topics.
Here is my protest non-poem
FARMERS' PROTEST 2020
Strength lies in
The solidarity of
Sons and daughters of the soil
Those who toil
Those who till the land
To serve and feed
~*~
They're the hands that feed us
The hands that believe in
Keerat karo-vand chhako
Heed peasants
Undo wrongs done to them
~*~
Bite not the hands
That serve and feed
Betray not the peasant
That put the crown on your head
To support and safeguard their rights
~*~
Peasant protest of 2020 -
A benchmark of peaceful protest
For second freedom
From tyranny of power and pandemic
~*~
