Features of farmers' protest being lauded across the world

The reaction of the UN to on-going protest of the farmers is that it is a peaceful movement with the premise of human rights. Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, stated, “As to the question of India, what I would say to you is what I've said to others when raising these issues is that people have a right to demonstrate peacefully, and authorities need to let them do so."

Similar views have been expressed many world leaders and Indian judiciary.

Lakhs of farmers from several states have been protesting for the last one month on the borders of New Delhi. The peaceful protest is against three farm laws, passed by the parliament during the COVID crisis times, are being seen as "anti-farmer" laws which are in favour of big corporate houses.

The way the protest has been organised, despite the all kinds of gimmicks played by the Government to foil the protest, even people from all walks of life have have started supporting it. The protesters have created collective stay and community cooking services to sustain the protest. The protesting farmers hold that they were living up to their 'Dharana Dharma.'

On revisiting the ancient literature, the lesson learnt by this exceptional protest being lauded across the world, I sum up the features of the protest in Sanskrit (see inset visual).
