Garden photography: Basic guidelines

Most times, people take photographs of individual flowering plants or flowers and tend to ignore the garden. But by following certain guidelines, one can take good photographs of gardens as well.


HERE ARE some basic tips for a beginner to take reasonable pictures of a garden. For taking the pictures of gardens natural lighting is best. Therefore chose the golden hours for such photography. A day when the sky is overcast is also good for garden photography. Never use a flash while taking pictures of a garden.


Before taking the picture of a garden, make sure that the camera lense is clean. Set your camera to a wide angle lens between 14 mm and 35 mm. Set the camera at fastest shutter speed or landscape mode to give good green effect.


Get to high up position, if possoble with a firm hold on the camera or use a tripod. Take a few photographs by panning and tilting the camera. Also take a few photographs with the camera in the vertical position.Compose the picture to highlight some special arrangement of plants and patterns.
