International Women’s Day is going to be observed this year with a focus on the theme ‘Invest in women: Accelerate progress,’ and the UN has urged that in the current scenario of the 'world facing multiple crises that are putting immense pressure on communities, achieving gender equality is more vital than ever.' The world community has been called upon for 'ensuring women’s and girls’ rights across all aspects of life is the only way to secure prosperous and just economies, and a healthy planet for future generations.'

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S Day (IWD) is marked on March 8, every year. It is a major day of global celebration for the professional, cognitive, economic, political and social achievements of women. The day is meant to portray the power of women in the modern era and how vital their role is in the society.
Started as a political event, IWD has become a holiday in many countries. In India, IWD holds a lot of significance. Many celebrations are held during the day. In some celebrations, the day has lost its social and political flavour and has become simply an occasion for lip service and tokenism.
"Male and female citizens, being equal in the eyes of the law, must be equally admitted to all honours, positions and public employment according to their capacity and without other distinctions, besides those of their virtues and talents." Said Olympe de Goudes as per the Internet.
