It is possible to take up experiential art-integrated meaningful projects through GIF technique

These days, GIFs abound on various social media platforms and teachers must make use of them for classroom instruction.

GIF is basically a bitmap image format that was developed by a team at the online services provider CompuServe led by American computer scientist Steve Wilhite which is now most popular in various social media platforms.

For creating one’s own GIFs using smartphones, iPhones and iPads with 'iOS apps' either provided in photo-edit part an by using like GIF Toaster, GIPHY Cam or stop motion apps.

Here, a GIF that was created by taking the pictures of six frames in the collage and then selected frames were subjected to GIF application of an android phone.

The GIF was used for cultural linkage of language learning on an Indian festival (see inset visuals)


Making use of teacher created GIF as teaching aid to introduce a lesson with pictures taken through 'continuous' mode.

Educational use of art-integrated learning can be in the form of silent animated micro-videos can be made by teachers easily from the pictures of line drawing taken in successive stages to illustrate some processes.

But, it has been seen that teacher fight shy in use of GIF mode of photograph editing available in many since they Graphics Interchange Format (GIF) something for use in social media in the form of animated visual comments and good wishes for various life events.
