It's Children's Day, November 14: A Short Note and a Poem
Short Note
A child is defined as a young human being who is under the age of 18 years, characterized by a time of learning, growth, development, guidance, and support. And, the stage from ages 3 to 18 is filled with wonder, curiosity, imagination, and a growing comprehension of the world.
It is a crucial time for the child-friendly structured learning, play, and education that fosters physical, mental, creative, and emotional growth. Nevertheless, children often depend on adults and joyfully learn in formal settings from teachers and caregivers, who provide guidance, support, and protection. When learning is rightly fostered and scaffolded, every child becomes a winner.
Children's Day serves as a reminder for teachers and caregivers to truly understand children and allow them to be themselves, rather than trying to mould them into little adults.
Childhood: A Poem
A seed of wonder, less than eighteen years,
A tiny human, reaching for the sun,
A mind ablaze with curious joys and fears,
A world explored, before the day is done.
With open eyes, they greet each brand new sight,
Imagination paints their vibrant dreams,
Through play they learn, and grow in gentle light,
By adult love, their fragile spirit gleams.
A time of learning, shaping heart and soul,
Of growing limbs, and feelings yet untold,
They lean on us, to make them strong and whole,
Protecting them from stories bleak and cold.
Let children be, with laughter in their eyes,
Not little adults, reaching for the skies.
