On March 8, 2021, International Women's Day at farmers' protest sites at Delhi borders was observed with several thousand women including teachers, farm workers, social activists, students, home makers, etc., participating in it .
The best part was the observance was that right from managing the stage with only the speaker on the dais, collective meals, crowd management and security - all activities were well conducted by the women volunteers.
Various women speakers, besides stressing the need for gender equity, inclusion and empowerment highlighted the tales of their struggle for realizing women's rights and dwelled upon the perils of the farm bills passed by the present government.
It became evident that the women even as awakened home managers were capable of building the humanity that would be sustainable, empowered, peaceful, prosperous, inclusive and equitable. Moreover, women and girls, when freed from patriarchy and social constructs imposed by dominant male and political groups, can play a crucial transformative role.
