J Krishnamurti viewpoint on falsehood of worldly conditioned life

J Krishnamurti, noted thinker and philosopher, viewed that living in a world conditioned by external factors leads to self-deception. He suggested that the "I" or self is merely a collection of memories and thoughts, which are inherently limited, and that our attempts to find security result in falsehood.

He pointed out that we exist within a "murderous machine of false values" and, rather than seeking the truth, we focus on preserving our gains, knowledge, and possessions, which ultimately blinds us. He stressed that the only way to break free is to observe "what is"—a direct perception of reality without the interference of thought or opinion. He felt that the pursuit of truth can also serve as a means of escape, distracting us from the reality of the present moment.

J Krishnamurti's quotes on 'falsehood'

  • Till the false is seen as false, truth is not.

  • When you once see something as false which you have accepted as true, as natural, as human, then you can never go back to it.

  • Truth is not the opposite of a lie. That which has an opposite is not truth.

  • The self must cease through awareness of its own limitation, the falseness of its own existence... the self is always limited, and until it is abandoned, the mind can never be free.

  • To seek is to deny the truth that is right in front of you.

INSPIRED COUPLETS

Die to cravings, self's command,

A new life blooms, held in Truth's hand.

Let ego die, the worldly mind,

A truer self, you'll surely find.

Release the fake, find life's true way,

Embrace the now, and live each day.

From fading world, to life's bright shore,

Live evermore, forevermore.
