The Jain Akshaya (Eternal, never diminishing) Tritiya is being observed on April 19 in 2026. According to the Jain calendar., this Jain festival marks the conclusion of Lord Rishabhanatha’s 400-day fast. The festival is also called '' Varshi tap Paran.'
This day is celebrated on this day as the first Tirthankara of Jainism broke his fast with sugarcane juice in Hastinapur. It is a very auspicious day for the Jains, observed with strict fasting, prayer, devotional service, and charity.
Spiritually, the festival symbolizes the victory of self-control and the significance of providing food to monks, known as Ahara Daan. Therefore, in Jainism, Akshaya Tritiya is a celebration of virtue, fasting, and the sacred act of offering food to those on a spiritual journey
Jainsim Inspired Poem on Self-Restraint _ Uttam Sanyam
When wants arise, a fire in the soul,
And senses call for pleasures far and wide,
Self-restraint bids reason take control,
To stem the tide, where passions often hide.
Limit wants that clutch at the fleeting gain,
Release their hold, let generosity bloom.
Control thoughts, words, deeds, ease every pain,
Embrace a life less cluttered, less consumed.
A simple path, with vegan fare and fast,
From earthly chains, find freedom built to last.
So master self, and find the upward way,
To liberation and a brighter day..
