Jaipur-based educator receives the Commonwealth Award in innovative STEM education for the 17th time

Jaipur based educator and researcher, currently associated with the Plenum School in Himachal Pradesh, has won the Commonwealth Award for the 17th time for his innovative STEM education project report submitted in 2021. His project "DESIGNING AND DEVELOPING TEACHER HANDBOOK FOR SCIENCE EXPERIENCES AT REMOTE SMALL RURAL PRIMARY SCHOOLS THROUGH USE OF MINI-TOOLS KIT: ESSENTIALITY OF CONTEXTUALISATION AND TEACHER EMPOWERMENT" was chosen for award in Education Category among the entrants from 53 countries working as STEM educators at primary, secondary and tertiary levels. .

Dr Lalit Kishore's Commonwealth Award announcement was announced during the four-day on-line conference of Association for Science Education (ASE) conference in January 2022. Dr Kishore is recipient of the Findel-CASTME Award for the year 2021-22 in the education category. In the last week of April 2022, he received his award certificate and citation.


"I am delighted that you have booked to participate in the first day of our Annual Conference Online, which is our International Day and Technicians Day combined, and please find attached the Zoom links for all 8 rooms (the 9th room has breakout room links known to the Zoom Support Assistants only, who will operate these behind the scenes)," informed Angela Buckland, Conference & Events Manager, The Association for Science Education that promotes Excellence in Science Teaching and Learning.


The award scheme is run by the Commonwealth Association of Science, Technology and Mathematics Educators (CASTME[1]), an organisation established in 1974 with an aim of sharing best practice across the STEM disciplines and to demonstrate the importance of STEM to local environments, schools and communities. Awards are offered for educational projects, which address the social or human context of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Any group or individual involved in any form of education in the widest senses, formal or informal, within societies can enter including pre-school, Primary or Secondary. Additionally, Tertiary education projects can be entered from school, college, university or from communities
