Mahatma Gandhi's death anniversary (January 30) is also marked as Martyrs Day. On the 73rd Death Anniversary, the apostle of non-violence and peace is being remembered by the people of country.
Here, I remember him through an 'acrostic poem' and a note on 'fasting' which he deemed as a means to enhance mental toughness.
Gandhi acrostic poem
G-reat leader of India who
A-chieved independence for the
N-ation through nonviolent resistance or 'Satyagraha" by
D-riving out the British rulers to
H-erald democracy and
I-n his death he highlighted that cause of secularism was the utmost
Mahatma Gandhi, believed in fasting as a means of control over baser desires and instincts which make one weak. He had believed that by bringing the body increasingly under the mind's control one becomes simple and gets rids of arrogance and external show offs. He could mobilize people against the tyrant British rulers by undertaking the Fast-Unto-Death three times.
The peaceful protest of the farmers in the country has urged people to fast on Mahatama Gandhi's death anniversary (January 30) this year to express their detemination to realise their fundamental rights and ward off subjugation to the corporate.
