The National Legal Services Day marks the foundation day of India's National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) in India on 5 December in 1995.
The observance is held by each state's Legal Services Authorities organize the day through state, district level and taluk lor block level institutions, it is leaned.
It may be mentioned here that NALSA is meant to undertake the following main activities
Free legal aid and advice to the needy,
Disposal of cases through mediation
Amicable settlement between the contending party involed in legal wrangles
The purpose is to minimize the pendency load of Indian courts as well as to afford access to justice for needy litigants.
