Need to revive limerick writing at middle school level to tickle the funny bone of students

A limerick is a five-line poem with rhyming scheme of AABBA.


Most limericks are intended to be humorous, suggestive or silly in nature. However, some modern limericks have satire in them.





This is the limerick created by a teen-ager on the ‘trumpeter’ as part of learning language art.


LIMERICK ON TRUMPETER


Trumpeter ruler made rationalists bite dust

Then blew up the dust to cover up power-lust


Farmers said don't blow trumpet on our flour

It will choke you to show the the back door


He, however, hired trumpeters to create a din unjust
