Needed is a shift towards post-modern approach to spiritual education, suggests research

View Point

Clive Erricker's [1] research conducted in collaboration with schools indicates that fostering spirituality should focus on enabling children to seek meaning and purpose in their lives. This necessitates students' involvement in personal reflection, rather than simply adopting a singular, predetermined set of beliefs. There is a pressing need to reform of religious education, as well as moral and values-based education, to tackle ethical and spiritual inquiries in a manner that resonates with children's experiences, emphasizing post-modern ethical considerations and the conceptual exploration of universal spiritual elements related to purpose, meaning, and connection.

 Inspired Poem

Let's build a school, not for text-books,

But where the heart and spirit looks.

No rules that bind, no stories old,

Just space for life's truth to unfold.

Let children lead, with open minds,

To truths that resonate and bind.

A learning path, both new and deep,

Where ethics and spirit learn to leap.
