Education GIFs are related to activities of students, teachers and classroom processes related to teaching concepts. Often, teaching GIFs are related to step-wise drawing to illustration and enhance visual perception and visual intelligence.
The Graphics Interchange Format provides basic animation to an action with currently available smart phones with digital camera. In the social media, GIFs are being used to convey comments, feelings, reactions and expressions.
However, the application has not caught the fancy of teachers to create educational and concept illustrative GIFs. Such GIFs are extremely useful for on-line teaching of various concepts.
I tried my hand on illustrating the parts of a plants through GIF. Three main steps used by me to create the GIF were as follows.
Draw the step wise-diagram of a plant on a small chalkboard and take sequenced pictures with a stationary camera mounted on a stand
Combine the picture using GIF application
Select the appropriate speed for display and save
The inset visual shows the frames that were created to produce the GIF which took half-an-hour.
Note: The Graphics Interchange Format (GIF; pronunciation: /dʒɪf/ JIF or /ɡɪf/ GHIF) was pronounced as "jif" by the format creators but later the word got widely pronounced with a hard "G" /ɡɪf/ as in "gift".
