Parents & teachers must join hands in on-line education: President Kovind on Teacher's Day

On the occasion of Teacher's Day awards function, President Ram Nath Kovind, while emphasizing on the importance of digital technology in challenging times of COVID pandemic, said that teachers were taking the help of technology to reach out to the children.

He added that the observance of Teacher's Day provided an opportunity to pay respect to our teachers for their commitment and supreme contribution in the lives of pupil. He was of the opinion that teachers' commitment was the foundation stone for any school since they were the 'true nation builders who are instrumental in building the character and knowledge of the children.'

He urged teachers to make a shift toward new technology driven teaching by continuously upgrading and updating skills for effective use of digital technology since online education system has made it obligatory for the parents to join hands with the teachers and encourage children to evoke interest in new fields of learning.

While pointing out at the rural-urban digital divide, President Kovind stressed that steps should be taken to bridge the divide so that children from tribal and far-flung areas were also benefited by on-line teaching. He called upon teachers to make National education Policy successful and productive.
