Psycho-therapy & spiritual therapy work well to mitigate mental health issues: Special on WMHD

On the occasion of World Mental Health Day (WMHD)-2021, WHO[1] through a report has raised concerns regarding global shortfall in investment in mental health. The WHO said that the world had missed most of 2020 mental health targets during COVID-19 crisis and the organization hds extended its Mental Health Action Plan to 2030 provides new opportunity for progress

However, the well-off people availed the services of psycho-therapits to mitigate the mental health problems created by COVID crisis. According to American Psychiatric Association(APA)[2], 'Psychotherapy, or talk therapy, is a way to help people with a broad variety of mental illnesses and emotional difficulties.'

Thus, a certified psychotherapist, through his designed intervention helps the clients to mitigate, eliminate or control their troubling symptoms and improve mental health, well-being and healing. A typical confidential session built on mutual trust to share feelings and emotions is of half-an-hour to one hour per day that may last for a week to a few months depending on the severity of the problem.

The characteristics of sound mental health have described by an ABC pattern poem by Jaipur based educator-researcher Dr Lalit Kishore who works with local Disha Foundation dedicated to education and therapeutic services to CSWN.

Kishore[3] has been batting for spiritual therapy for mental healin and well-being of people stressed at homes and work places. He holds that 'spiritual intelligence is the humans' innate potential beyond physical or bodily-kinaesthetic intelligence that control on body and senses. And, the efforts to enhance spiritual intelligence have positive impact on mental health since it produces a peaceful and non-reactive or pro-active mind.
