In Hinduism, scriptural knowledge is about understanding sacred texts like the Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, etc., not just as facts, but as divine truths that explain the purpose of life, self-awareness, and knowledge of God. In other words, studying scripture is meant to develop higher-order thinking skills such as reflective, contemplative, and intuitive thinking, which contribute to spiritual growth, wisdom, value education, ethics, moral guidance, and a closer relationship with God, as well as applying these teachings in everyday life.

Scriptural knowledge should go beyond just collecting information; it should lead to transformative wisdom that helps you realize deeper truths about existence, respect for the divine, and a righteous, joyful life that is different from regular academic knowledge.

Applied scriptural knowledge is not just about memorizing verses and preaching them. It involves understanding spiritual truths, gaining self-awareness, recognizing the nature of God, and grasping the divine will for self-realization, ultimately leading to Moksha. In essence, scriptural knowledge is a profound, experiential understanding of sacred texts that brings spiritual enlightenment and liberation.
