A four-line sound poem where the lines has successively one, two, three and four words with each word in the poem beginning with the same sound is called a pyramid poem. It is, at times, also called alliteration poem.
There are two ways of writing a pyramid poem.
The steps in the first way are as follows
Choose a beginning sound
Brainstorm for words with the chosen words and list various parts of speech that begin with that sound such as nouns, adjectives, verbs, propositions, etc.
Form the poem by changing the word-endings and tenses to create a reasonable poem
Such poems are good for phonic learning of alphabet, consonants and vowel sounds of a language, especially English.
It has been suggested that the conventional rhymes when replaced by pyramid poems build contextual and relevant vocabulary to accelerate the learning of language.
