Noted Renowned Kuchipudi Dancer and dance guru Dr Sobha Naidu passed away in a private Hospital in Hyderabad on October 14. I received information from facebook friend Chitturi Vasuprakash of ShriPrakash Vidyaniketan of Vizag. She had performed in that school.
I had seen Shobha's enchanting performances on the TV and was spell bound be her vivd gestures, postures and facial expressions. I had found her a perfect example graceful and artful body language. She was sheer matchless.
Shobha Naidu (1956 – 2020) excelled in classical dance forms with great expertise in Kuchipudi dance. She had been the disciple of the noted master Vempati Chinna Satyam.
She started performing dancing lead roles in ballet dances while young in her guru's troupe across India as well as abroad. Her roles as Satyabhama, Mohini, Parvati and Padmavati had been appreciated besides her spell casting solo dances. She choreographed and presented of ballets with great nuances.
Of late, as head of Kuchipudi Art Academy, Hyderabad, she was training young students from India and abroad. For her contribution, he won many awards and was conferred with Padma Shri honour.
