Researcher Dr Kishore at Disha Foundation in Jaipur wins C'wealth Award 2018 in STEM education

Commonwealth Fidel-CASTME Education Award for the year 2018 was accorded to Jaipur based researcher and science educator working at Disha Foundation in the city, reported the news story in NewsDog[1] portal. The original news was carried out by merinews,com.



Dr Kishore’s entry ‘Training Primary Teachers to Become Math Language Literates’ was chosen for the award for the STEM education project category. The two other awardees belonged to the community awareness projects.


Dr. Lalit Kishore (B. 1946) did his Masters in Physics from Kurukshetra University and Doctorate in Education from Punjab University, Chandigarh. Currently, working as a consultant and freelancer, he is engaged in research work in special education, development of micro-learning strategy for single teacher schools and feminist pedagogy based compensatory education for rural girls taking their first public exam in Rajasthan.

Dr. Kishore had his advance education on fellowships from International Centre for School Technology in United Kingdom; International Institute of Educational Planning in France and Queen’s University in Canada. He taught physics for 15 years at Mayo College, Ajmer; Motilal Nehru School of Sports, Rai; and Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangthan. He had been active in the area of science education, value education, teacher education, in-service training and action research.


He has also worked at higher positions with organizations like Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangthan, Lok Jumbish, Krishnamurti Foundation, CULP, UNICEF, UNESCO, Disha Foundation, Disha-India and Jain Vishav Bharati.


For his contribution in education, he has been honoured with the National level awards (11 times) and Commonwealth Awards (16 times). He recently received ‘Findel- CASTME Educational Award’ for the year 2018 and 2019. He has published umpteen papers and articles as well as authored a few books on education. Dr. Kishore has presented his papers at the international conferences in South Africa, United Kingdom, Malaysia and India. He has co-guided research studies and his work has been included in the courseware of some universities.
