The activity book[1] “Science Activities with Plastic Tongue Cleaner” co-authored by Lalit Kishore and Tushar Tamhane, the members of the LCTA (Low Cost Teaching Aids) project team at KFI Varanasi, provides hands-on experience in material manipulation, experimentation and design thinking along learning science concepts through discovery approach.
Moreover, since activities have been designed around single object – inexpensive plastic tongue cleaner – they promote divergent thinking skill, provide lateral thinking experiences and improvisation opportunities leading to whole brain development.
The booklet has been translated into Hindi and has been used in an Education-for-All project in Rajasthan state of India as well as for science popularization among children. The booklet is also available as free literature on the internet.
