Week-long harvest festival of Assam, Rongali Bihu or Bohag Bihu which also marks the advent of Assamese New Year, kicked off on April 14.
This year, it begins on April 14 in a subdued way due to COVID 19 pandemic.
The celebrations mark folk singing and dancing in traditional clothes like dhoti, gamosa, sari, and saadar mekhela.
The seven days of celebrations of go by the following names: Chot Bihu, Goru Bihu, Manuh Bihu, Kutum Bihu, Senehi Bihu, Mela Bihu and Chera Bihu respectively.
