Often, home schools have a complete curriculum package and attempt is made to accommodate child's learning style for its transaction in the form of individual or group learning in a set-up at the child’s home or teacher’s home or a community’s place.
Along with the traditional teaching methods a few non-traditional approaches decided by various stakeholders are used.

In India, one of the oldest Home Schools is at Basavanagudi in Bangalore started by Ms. Robinson, a North American missionary, In this school, they pay individual attention to each and every student. Occasionally they take children on family picnics, have daily Morning Prayer, scouts and guides, Junior Red Cross and collective singing events.
Today, the Home School imparts education from Kindergarten to the seventh standard for boys and girls in most countries.

In a home school, there are all the cleaning and classroom arranging work is done by the children and teachers together. In Rajasthan, Shiksha Karmi Project tried the concept on Home School called Angan Pathshalas for small habitations.
The experiments reveal that the concept works well for primary grades in the form of small schools where in a single teacher teaches all the subjects at home.
Home schools succeed since the mainly managed by parents and teachers collectively and efforts are made for cultural linkage of learning, individualized curriculum plans, integrated learning and micro-learning with teachers’ periodic review workshops for their capacity building.
