Significance of engaging school students for illusion art-integrated

multi-disciplinary learning

Illusion art, commonly known as "Op Art," is a shortened term for optical art creating illusion. This off-beat genre of art skillfully manipulates human perception, making still images seem as though they are in motion, pulsating, or existing in three-dimensional space. Its purpose is to deceive the eyes and mind by leveraging the way our visual system interprets light, color, and patterns.

For students in school, the main goal of illusion art is to challenge traditional perceptions and promote critical-creative and reflective thinking regarding the realities depicted in visual media and optically perceived by mind. Engaging with this art form allows students to understand the psychological and physiological elements involved in how the brain processes visual information.

At times, it can be utilized to question perceived reality, as some images may be distorted and only appear accurate from a particular, often unconventional, viewpoint. Additionally, this art form serves as a bridge between art, science, and spirituality: it offers a practical approach to exploring scientific ideas related to vision, light, and the sensually perceived world, as well as delusions and neurology.
