Simple digital art techniques of modification, alteration & distortion have many non-art benefits

"Digitally modified or altered artwork has the potential of enhancing one's visual intelligence and can also work as a hobby and therapy if one is desk-bound worker or learner with deficits. I started simple and experimented with photographs of sketches, random drawings and doodling with a digital camera of a smartphone and modified them digitally through phone option of colour dabbing and distortions such as mirror, wave and swirl a number of times with a different sequence. The products of such digital modifications looked artistic and got noticed. With a practice for a month, it led to an enhancement of visual literacy and visual thinking through captioning of each product. Cognitive development and therapeutic use of any art form is non-art use of art which I had been researching about for the last few years," said Dr Lalit Kishore, the educator-researcher at Disha Foundation in Jaipur dedicated to education of differently abled children and capacity building of special educators.

The recognition has been accorded in the month of September 2021 to Dr Lalit Kishore by the a group of 3.6K members called "World of Visual Artist" created by noted visual artist Catalina Anenei with the motto "FOR THE GLORY OF ART."

"Since digitally altered artwork is quick and more efficient, it can enhance visual intelligence with short term practice. It also gives you the options for trying various re-doings to select the best alteration. Moreover, it can done anywhere and anytime on smart devices including smartphones, it saves the physical space and buying conventional art material. Moreover, replication for reaching out to others can be done through printouts," adds Kishore based on his experience in visual research at Disha Foundation in the are of non-art use of art for enhance coordination skills and visual skills of children with special needs.
