Systematised modular learning of bookmark making as a craft has multidisciplinary skilling value

Simple craft and workmanship can be good tools to develop design thinking and production values like dignity of labour and manual work. Thinking through simple craft work like designing and producing a bookmark can be of a great value. It can be converted into 'skilling course' of 9 hours at primary school level'.

The skilling course can be converted into three-hour theory learning of three lessons (topics: Bookmark definition, concept and uses; material science, tools and blue print of designs) and six hours on practical and production work (three practicals of of two hours each).

It would be appropriate, to design a 10-page skilling module for organized multi-disciplinary learning centered around the craft of bookmark creation as shown in the inset picture. (courtesy: Prabha's CCE, Jaipur)

A bookmark can be defined a thin marking tool made of card, sheet or fabric tied to the book with a thread and it used to keep track of a learner's reading progress and his or her easy return to page of the previous and concluded reading session.
