CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) has decided to make Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Education as the Annual Training Theme for 2025 and has urged schools to organize District Level Deliberations (DLDs) on STEM. The proposed DLDs would aim to create localized learning communities where educators can discuss and share best practices in STEM education.
According to the CBSE, a STEM-DLD is a voluntary forum where educators can discuss STEM-related topics meant to organize district-level with the following tasks
Focussing on mutual learning among science teachers
Organizing collective and collaborative reflections on STEM pedagogy
Sharing best practices such as successful classroom experiences, teaching strategies, and innovative interventions in STEM subjects.
Making a paradigm shift towards creating and implementing grassroots-level innovations in STEM education
Addressing challenges by providing a space for discussing challenges faced in teaching STEM and finding solutions.
Since in future more STEM-skilled workforce would be required as part of growing knowledge economy, the CBSE has decided to empower teachers with strategies to integrate experiential, inquiry-based, and interdisciplinary approaches into classroom practice.
The CBSE has asked the schools to participate actively in these deliberations 'to contextualize national goals within local realities' and to get committed to 'a future-ready education system by empowering educators, strengthening leadership, and making learning more meaningful and engaging.'
"Heads of Institutions are expected to act as change leaders, promoting a culture of continuous professional learning and innovation in their schools," urges the CBSE
