Toward video poetry created with mobile camera to make on-line teaching effective: An example

With trend on on-line teaching and permission of mobiles becoming as a permitted way of communication between the teachers and their students, there is a need for teachers to make use of 'video poems' that are supported by 'micro videos'. Some teachers have tried their hand on 'video poetry or video-visual poetry' - the poetry in video form.

Video poetry can also be digitized and edited by software, but, that being done by professional poets. However, teachers can use poetry without digital effects since for them poetry is not edutainment but serious teaching of language or cognitive tool to remember information related to the curriculum and various topics or content thereof. It is more like teaching-performance in front of children connect online or face-to-face situation.

Teacher-created poems can be used right from pre-primary to post-graduation classes by resourceful teachers. For special children, GIF micro-videos can be used by resourceful and innovative teachers.

The following process can be followed by the teacher for transaction video-visual poems

  • Recording the visuals in the form of micro-video with simple instrumental music

  • Playing the video for children to build the background and entry to transaction of the poem

  • Reciting the poem or playing the recorded poem

  • Reciting the poem along with the video as visual support

  • Making children to recite the poem

  • Content acquisition exercises
