Towards hybrid schooling model from ensuing session 2021-22

Updated: Mar 16, 2021

According to the news story carried out the local press in Jaipur, in the next academic session beginning from April 2021, the CBSE is going to provide the guidelines for implementing hybrid system of schooling.

In other words, the schools will be required to develop and implement a model of hybrid schooling with blended curriculum for their students at various grade levels.

This implies that the structure of school with teachers, peers, infrastructure and facilities remain in place, however, each classroom / teacher's room fitted with on-line lesson delivery systems.

Elsewhere, two types of hybrid instruction is being used.

Reduced week days model

  • School-days are fixed ranging from 2-4 days

  • Remaining days children study at home with on-line support by the school and parental supervision.

Two-group model for complete week

  • Students are divided into two groups, a smaller group comes to the institution

  • The smaller group attends class in-person which is taught by the classroom instructor and proceedings are put on-line

  • Rest of the students join the class virtually from home

Teacher preparation and skill training

  • Teachers require preparation and skills

  • Customize and outline content and instructional objectives on daily basis: Teachers required to prepare self-prepared handbook for day-wise learning episodes

  • Communicative skills in presence of camera

  • Ability to use digital technologies effectively

In nutshell

Thus Hybrid learning is a way of combining traditional classroom experiences, session's learning objectives along with simultaneous digital course delivery in the classroom and on-line

It is required that students be helped to gradually move to a self-directed learning style or flipped classroom supported by classroom flexible schedule
