The CBSE has articulated that it was committed to aligning itself with NEP- 2020 and NCF-School Education by making skill (vocational) education a vital component of the school curriculum to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world application, fostering students' readiness for future challenges and opportunities.

The board has introduced of Skill Modules for students of classes VI to XII. CBSE offers 22 Skill subjects in classes IX-X and 43 Skill subjects in classes XI-XII and 33 skills with their contextual subsets at middles school level for the time being

The schools have been asked to ensure availability of the skill module choices for one or more skills in an academic session which may be of same topic or of different topics. And, students opting for any skill module may begin from the first module and then move to next available module.

It has been suggested that the skill modules can be offered through classes or through Hobby Clubs (if available) or online in self-learning mode.

The assessment regarding skill learning is to be school-based, preferably it should be project-based which should submitted as a report to be intimated to the Board.   The CBSE has developed a portal for registration and certification of students who have opted for Skill Modules.
