Treat classroom as community of learners to combine self-awareness, social pedagogy and learning

“The classrooms are needed to be treated as community of learners in which the teacher functions as a senior co-learners with the student to facilitate and support the innate learning potential of students. However, the school management and leadership have to ensure proper social pedagogy which is essential precondition for facilitative learning to succeed for collective co-construction and sharing of knowledge,” stated Jaipur based educator and researcher whose paper was accepted for an international conference in Sri Lanka in 2016.


In his paper “Explaining educational setting as a community of learners: brainstorming by teachers during in-service training,” for the IMRF World Research Congress-2016, Dr Kishore, through the brainstorming technique, elicited from the in-service training participants how can a classroom functions as a community of learners and what were the roles and responsibilities of the teacher as a senior co-learner with his or her students. The teacher has to assume the role of a guide and manager of learning resources for making learning to happen in the classroom, it was concluded.
