Use stick drawings to make learning inclusive and contextaulized in classroom: A note and example

Since initially most learners are visual learners and their cognitive development happens through multi-sensory experience. For inclusion, early childhood learning must happen in the the contexts and as per the individual needs of each child.


Research and experiences of innovative teachers have shown that the use of stick figures in cognitive, kinaesthetic and language development proves to effective


If teachers are able to draw stick figures and communicate properly. Skillfulness should be acquired not only for quick drawing of the figures of humans, but of other living and non-living objects around the child.


If the stick figures are drawn while the narration is being listened to by children, the stick figures provide meaningful visual support to the auditory activity being transacted by the teacher.

Here is the stick figure of an elephant made from alphabet C and I.
