Genuine photography of children is a matter spur-of-the-moment as they are often less self-consciousness of themselves. Since, they provide candid moments to take pictures; therefore, the photographer should be on the alert to seize the moments.
It is essential to develop a rapport with children and never dictate them for posing. Make them comfortable so as to capture the honest and candid expressions.
Camera setting is needed at the a wide aperture and high shutter speed. This can be acquired with with practice with natural light and artificial light situations.
With practice and experimentation you will be capture their emotions, facial expression and postures for composing the reasonable shots. Inset collage shows three of my shots found reasonable during the COVID times.
