Waldorf education or Steiner education, is based on the educational philosophy and anthroposophy-based pedagogy of Rudolf Steiner
First Waldorf school was opened in 1919 in Stuttgart in Germany

Features of Waldorf education are as follows
Holistic: Cognitive, physical, artistic, mental or intellectual and spiritual development
Pedagogy: Experiential, inclusive and process-based disciplinary active learning for knowledge, skills, attitudes and values internalizing
Autonomy: School autonomy for governance or system management and teacher-autonomy for curriculum development, learning material development, classroom organization and classroom processes
Assessment: Internal comprehensive, continuous and formative student assessment is integrated into classroom processes till general education
The system now followed in more than 40 countries in private schools, public schools] charter schools, home schools, alternative education schools, non-formal schools and innovative academies
The homeschooling movement in Germany, the United States, and the Netherlands follows Waldorf education and its adaptations
