Whole brain education can mitigate dementia & enhance creative life: Spl on World Alzheimer’s Day

As an educator, I suggest that we must go for whole brain education or multiple intelligence learning in early education to prevent dementia and lead long creative and productive life:

Each year, World Alzheimer’s Day takes place on 21 September and is part of World Alzheimer's Month in the United States. "2 out of every 3 people globally believe there is little or no understanding of dementia in their countries. The impact of World Alzheimer's Month is growing, but the stigmatization and misinformation that surrounds dementia remains a global problem, that requires global action," stated the Global Voice on Dementia.

"This year, we’re talking about dementia – and urging everyone to join in the conversation by becoming Dementia Friends," informs Alzheimer's Society at its website www.alzheimers.org.uk adding that it is importance of talking about dementia and 'raise awareness of how it impacts the daily lives of people affected by the condition and challenge the stigma that surrounds it.'

One must be careful about early signs and symptoms of Alzheimer's that results in memory loss as it is a brain disease that causes a slow decline in memory, thinking and reasoning skills.

One of the most common signs is forgetting recently learned information, says https://www.alz.org/alzheimers-dementia/10_signs link. Others include forgetting important dates or events, asking for the same questions over and over, and increasingly needing to rely on memory aids, e.g., reminder notes or electronic devices or family members for things they used to handle on their own.

People with Alzheimer's often find it hard to complete daily tasks. Sometimes they may have trouble driving to a familiar location, organizing a grocery list or remembering the rules of a favorite game.

Helpful tips for prevention of Alzheimer’s, suggested by India Health Portal, are related to enhancing engagement in physical, mental, social and recreational activities such as:

  • Reading

  • Walking

  • Swimming

  • Writing for pleasure

  • Yoga and Meditation

  • Playing musical instruments

  • Group sports, such as bowling

  • Taking part in adult education courses

  • Playing indoor games such as crosswords, puzzles, scrabble and chess

The education based on multiple intelligence or whole brain education has the potential for children to develop their brain so as not suffer from dementia in old age. People with active brain developed effortfully live a creative and productive life.
