World Asthma Day 2021: 'Uncovering Asthma Misconceptions' is the theme


World Asthma Day, is being observed Global Initiative for Asthma supported by WHO with the theme “Uncovering Asthma Misconceptions” to to raise awareness of Asthma and its treatment.


According to WHO, asthma is of major public health importance since more than 339 million people had Asthma globally and several thousand patients die each year due to asthma. It needs to be understood that asthma cannot be cured, but it is possible to manage asthma to reduce and prevent asthma attacks.


It is further added that we are dispel the common misconceptions surrounding asthma such as it is a childhood disease; it is is infectious; it grow out with age. Even avoiding exercise and that it can be cured with high dose steroids.


As often seen. asthma often leads to four symptoms, namely, wheezing, chest tightness, breathlessness, and coughing. According to experts, respiratory viruses like Novel Coronavirus can trigger and aggravate asthma symptoms.


During pandemic, if a person has uncontrolled asthma, he or she may develop severe Covid symptoms.
