The book “Advances in Science Education” [1] is review of the progress in science education research. Published in 2021, the book is collection of the write-ups from various authors edited by Hari Shankar Biswas, Sandeep Poddar, and Amiya Bhaumik.

This reviewer’s [2] research paper (Kishore, 2009), “Stepping into science in small schools: Together with tools, techniques and toys,” published in the proceedings of International Conference to Review Research in Science,Technology and Mathematics Education, has been referenced in it.

This book, published by Lincoln Research and Publishing Limited, Australia, in collaboration with Lincoln University College, Malaysia, aims to enhance the’ understanding of science and the construction of knowledge as well as to promote scientific literacy to become responsible citizenship. Science communication can be used to increase science-related knowledge for better description, prediction, explanation and understanding.’

According to the book, ‘interdisciplinary education is achieving a myriad dimension of human skills' with ‘opportunity to enhance future decision-making capability and design consciousness through multiple academic disciplines.’ This is the paradigm shift in STEM education research and development. It is held that ‘innovation in science and innovation in science education must walk hand in hand for better learning and understanding’ and ‘education of science and technology is at the heart of the sustainable development’ is the current trend in this direction.

The book, spread in 120 odd pages with 20 papers and articles, is a valuable addition for the libraries, educational institutions and researchers in the area of STEM and STEAM education.
