Short Note on Spiritual Significance of Lotus
In various Eastern cultural traditions, the lotus flower is seen as a spiritual symbol representing purity, detachment, grace, and resilience. It rises from muddy, murky, and dirty water, remaining untouched, which signifies the spirit's ability to rise above worldly challenges and struggles. In the Bhagavad Gita, the lotus is referred to as a symbol of purity, piousness, and detachment. The underlying message is to cultivate transcendence from the enticing sensual traps that come from our lower instincts and desires for material and sensual gratifications, which are just worldly snares to be undone.
Lotus flower: A spiritual decastich
From dark, deep mud, a lotus finds its way,
Escaping gloom, towards a brighter day.
It blooms detached, from murky snares set tight,
Purity's grace, conquers despairing night.
Let lotus be, a guiding, hopeful star,
To rise above, and know just who you are.
The world may bind, with troubles hard to bear,
Our souls can rise, leaving darkness far from there.
A spiritual decree, for all to see,
Transcendence blooms, eternally free!
