Invest in Peace - For Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day, the UN on International Day of Peace

Today, September 26, the UN marks the celebratory event of International Day of Peace, 2026, with call from the UN Chief, António Guterres, "let us all be inspired by the courage of those who champion peace in neighbourhoods, classrooms and communities. And let’s call on world leaders to invest in a peaceful future for all people," adding that peace isn’t just built in conference rooms—it is shaped by everyone, everywhere, every day.

Under the theme 'Invest in Peace,' the UN has urged the 'everyday architects of peace'— people driving local action, to lay the groundwork for stability, and building a lasting peace from the ground up.

Leaders as champion of dialogue and peace

A leader's worth, not found in walls they rais

But in the bridges they so wisely span.

To mend the rifts, thro' dialogue's gentle ways,

And heal the hurts since time itself began.

Let not the conflicts' drums begin to beat,

But silence them for GenZ, their futures bright.

For in their eyes, a hopeful world we meet,

A dawn of peace, dispelling darkest night.

Be ready now, to talk, to understand,

Reject the strife that scars this weary land,

For global good, let courage light the way,

And build up peace, to greet a brighter day.
