Even in the states, like Punjab and Haryana, wherein agriculture is the main occupation, the schools are opting for digital technology related skills. Schools must. However in the CBSE affiliated schools, the course on agriculture technology is available that includes both theory and practical skills related to horticulture and agriculture. The aim of skill course in agriculture is to provide a basic understanding of agriculture and horticultural practices.
According to a CBSE circular, the skill module on agriculture for grade 9 consists of four units such as (1) Introduction to Horticulture, (2) Seed Selection and Seedling Production, (3) Soil Preparation and Transplanting, and (4) Nutrient Management in Vegetable Crops. The curriculum is divided into theory and practical sessions, covering topics like the importance of horticulture, crop classification, seed treatment, nursery management, and basic soil and nutrient management techniques.
