Right to Education Act of India: A Sketch Note

Indian Right to Education Act (2009) describes modalities of the importance of free and compulsory school level general education for children in the country under Article 21 (A) of the Constitution.


The RTE-2009 came to effect on 1 April 2010 has prescribed educational norms and prohibited private schools from practice of donation fees and interviews of children at the time of admission.


The Act is meant to keep a check on children's school education through regular surveys and child tracking systems along with fixing roles and responsibilities for the center, state and all local bodies to enroll all children and enhance the quality of education.


It also provides for required teachers through specified Pupil-Teacher-Ratio with the requisite academic qualifications.
