The US National Library Week 2026 will be celebrated from April 19 to 25 with the theme "Find Your Joy." There are special days to celebrate, like Right to Read Day on April 20, National Library Workers Day on April 21, National Library Outreach Day on April 22, and Take Action for Libraries Day on April 23, along with literacy programs.

This event is organized and coordinated by the American Library Association (ALA) and focuses on providing free resources to users, running literacy campaigns, and getting support from the community.

In today's digital world, libraries have changed from just keeping books to becoming lively community centers. They now play many important new roles:

When people face misinformation, librarians help as "information shepherds" by guiding users to trustworthy sources, teaching them how to check facts, and encouraging media literacy.

They also offer free access to technology, like high-speed internet and special equipment, which helps with lifelong learning, remote work, and job hunting.

In many areas, libraries serve as social hubs that bring the community together by hosting workshops, events, and supporting different groups of people.

These new roles make sure libraries stay important, adapting to what people need today while still providing reliable access to knowledge.
